Stephenson visits University of Toronto Structural Testing Facility
Last week, Stephenson staff were invited to the University of Toronto to visit the Department of Civil Engineering’s Structural Testing Laboratory. For some it was a trip back to their alma mater, but for many it was their first time seeing the state of the art structural testing facility.
The idea for the event came out of the growing interest in seismic structural design, brought on by Stephenson’s successful collaborative research with UofT focused on numerical investigations of vibration control of high-rise structures (as part of the NSERC Engage Grant) as well as Amirahmad Fathieh’s recently published paper, “Seismic Evaluation of Modular Steel Buildings”.
The event was a great opportunity to have multiple teams come together to see the Structural Testing Laboratory facilities and equipment and discuss potential future collaborations.
The Structural Testing Laboratory in the Department of Civil Engineering is one of the top testing facilities in North America and has received numerous awards for the quality of research performed.
