Alen Karimi has 14 years of experience in structural concrete restoration projects. His experience includes contract administration, physical condition assessments, inspections, and construction planning on a variety of projects including projects within the residential and commercial building sectors. Alen is highly trained in preparing technical reports, specifications, bid documents and contract administration and is knowledgeable in all aspects of planning, including work sequences and building layout, forecasts and scheduling.
Babak Baradaran-Seyed – M.Sc., P.Eng. – Senior Associate
Babak Baradaran-Seyed has more than 25 years of experience in construction and design. He has acted as project manager and technical advisor on a variety of projects within different sectors including commercial and residential high rise, transportation, hospitality, recreation and educational facilities, Babak also has expertise in upgrading heritage buildings and blast resistant design. Babak considers himself to be a solution provider which, along with efficient communications and time management, exceeds expectations of other design disciplines and the clients. He believes that providing key structural solutions at the preliminary stages of a project will assist the client in making the key decisions.
Bernard Okorosobo P. Eng. – Associate
Bernard Okorosobo has more than 36 years of experience in designing all types of structures on various continents. Since joining Stephenson Engineering in 2014 Bernard has been instrumental in securing some of Stephenson Engineering’s first design build education projects in Alberta and has formed relationships with architects and contractors in Western Canada. Bernard is dedicated to providing high quality project delivery and prides himself in promoting the firm. It is Bernard's goal to making Stephenson Engineering a firm to be recognized in the Alberta marketplace.
James Cranford, P. Eng. – Associate
James Cranford has 8 years of experience as a structural engineer. He has worked on residential, commercial and institutional projects, completing field work, contract administration and engineering design.
Prior to joining Stephenson Engineering, James worked as an Estimator and Project Manager for a General Contractor on a variety of projects including hospitals, schools and a data centre.
Joseph Gasdia has 9 years of experience with the structural design of a variety of new construction, renovation, addition and investigation projects, in a wide variety of sectors.
Joseph has expertise in structural steel and wood design, and is a leading member of our internal Wood Design Technical Committee.
Kathy Kajaks – CAD/BIM Manager – Associate
Kathy Kajaks is an experienced structural modeler and provides leadership and mentoring to the CAD/BIM modeling team, ensuring that deadlines are met and structural drawings are accurately completed. Under Kathy’s direction, the modeling team produces state of the art structural drawings for the company, using our adopted BIM platform of Autodesk REVIT.

Kevin Falakfarsa B.Sc., CET, CCCA - Associate
Kevin Falakfarsa has more than 18 years of experience with a variety of technical, project and design management projects, as well as preventive maintenance and repair projects in North America and the Middle East.
Kevin is experienced in structural condition assessment, investigation and data collection of commercial and residential buildings, parking garages and bridges, and the monitoring and controlling of building information and condition assessment of municipalities structures and buildings. Kevin has been involved in a wide range of rehabilitation projects and he acted as project manager on rehabilitation projects such as the GTAA Bridges projects and Toronto Island Marina seawall repair.
Lawrence McSorley, AAA, B.Arch., M.Arch., M.C.P. – Associate
Lawrence brings more than 25 years of technical knowledge and management experience to Stephenson. During his career, Lawrence has worked with both Architectural and Consulting Engineering firms where he has led and managed teams on projects within Canada and internationally; which include large scale, commercial office, retail architectural, higher education, research and development facilities, large scale office building, resort and health care.
Michael Barrington, P.Eng., P.E. – Associate
Michael Barrington brings more than 20 years of technical knowledge and management experience to Stephenson Engineering. Most recently, Michael was the Manager-Building Sciences for a Consulting Firm in the Ottawa area. There he managed a large number of ongoing projects ranging from small construction quality assurance inspections to multi-million dollar sustainability/durability, design review and quality assurance projects.
Peter McAteer, M.Sc., P.Eng. – Associate
Peter McAteer is a professional engineer with more than 15 years of extensive experience in contract administration and structural design with steel, concrete, and wood and specializes in renovations of existing structures and in building retrofits. Peter is also experienced in contract administration of residential high rise and institutional structures.
Pravin Pai, B.Sc., B.Eng., P.Eng. – Associate
Pravin Pai has worked with local and international Architectural and Consulting Engineering firms for 16 years. As a Senior Engineer He has been actively involved in building envelope, property condition assessment, restoration, and rehabilitation of structures with in the Building Sciences group at Stephenson Engineering.
Throughout his career Pravin has developed a wealth of experience investigating, assessing, designing and administering construction projects related to building envelopes. Additionally, Pravin has performed numerous Property Condition Assessments over past seven years.
Sobhy Masoud, Ph.D., P.Eng. – Senior Associate
Sobhy Masoud has over 20 years of experience in structural engineering, designing and managing projects in all major sectors of development. He specializes in Mission Critical buildings throughout the commercial, residential, and hospitality sectors, including the RBC Data Centre and TD Bank Data Centre. He has also worked internationally on numerous projects, including mixed-use and transportation design.
Xi Xin (Fisher) Li – M.Eng., P.Eng. – Associate
Fisher Li brings 17 years of experience to his projects. He has significant experience managing structural design teams in the development of complex infrastructure projects such as Toronto South Detention Centre and St. Thomas Consolidated Courthouse.
Fisher has proven leadership skills in the design of high-rise residential, commercial and industrial projects and has worked on a number of interesting and challenging designs such as the TAP SEAC Multisport Pavilion in Macau, China. Fisher is highly involved with structural design methodology and implementation internally at Stephenson Engineering.
