This unique 195,000 square foot 11-storey office building with one level of basement is suspended over two existing masonry and timber buildings. The new office building will be suspended over the existing building using a structure of “Mega Columns” and steel “X” braces

Telus Centre – 25 York Street

Project Statistics
This one million square foot facility includes 29 storeys of office space and three levels of below grade parking, with a 40 foot high glass parapet feature at the top of the building.  The project was built immediately adjacent to active rail lines, requiring the design of a crash wall to withstand the force of a locomotive being derailed.  The design incorporated vibration isolation and made provisions for construction of a future subway line.

Additional design challenges included a below grade truck loading dock and access for Union Station delivery trucks to pass through the underground garage. This award winning project is slated to achieve LEED Gold Certification. 

Transamerica Tower – 5000 Yonge Street

Project Statistics
This 20-storey 540,000 square foot office building is a long-span column free structure designed with openings through the concrete beams to facilitate the mechanical systems.  This allows for a long-span column-free floor space without increasing floor to floor heights. The project has three levels of underground parking with 540 stalls.
