The East Rail Maintenance Facility for GO Transit will be a 600,000 ft2 facility located in Whitby, Ontario that will provide mechanical maintenance, body repair, and day-to-day cleaning and operational services – all essential functions in order to provide backend support for regional rail expansion. Major features of the facility will include:
18 storage tracks, and 6 maintenance bays (long span structure, 30-35m) for train inspection and maintenance
Staff offices, track and yard control room, material storage warehouse.
13 Overhead running maintenance cranes (from 5 to 50 Ton lifting capacities)
9 Ancillary maintenance buildings (paint shop, locomotive wash, consist wash, wheel shop, maintenance canopies, track maintenance, and gate house)
A cogen electrical substation for power supply to facility and onsite fuelling station.
